تسببت العاصفة القوية غورتي في انقطاع التيار الكهربائي عن نحو 380 ألف منزل شمال غرب فرنسا، في ليلة عنيفة تجاوزت سرعة الرياح فيها 200 كيلومتر في الساعة. وذكرت وزارة الداخلية الفرنسية أن الحادثة خلفت 6 مصابين فقط بإصابات طفيفة، رغم سقوط الأشجار وتدمير البنية التحتية في مناطق عدة. وشهدت بريتاني الساحلية ارتفاع أمواج بين 10 و13 متراً، ما أجبر السلطات على تعليق حركة القطارات في شمال البلاد معظم اليوم (الجمعة) مع استثناءات محدودة في بعض المناطق، بينما من المتوقع استئناف خدمات السكك الحديدية. كما ضربت العاصفة مناطق باريس الكبرى، والألزاس، واللورين، ما أدى إلى إغلاق المدارس في مانش وسين-ماريتيم، وسط تحذيرات مستمرة للموطنين بالبقاء داخل المنازل لحماية أنفسهم. وبدأت حدة العاصفة تتراجع تدريجياً، إلا أن آثارها لا تزال واضحة على الطرق والمناطق الساحلية، في واحدة من أقوى العواصف الشتوية التي تضرب فرنسا في السنوات الأخيرة. The coastal Brittany region experienced wave heights between 10 and 13 meters, forcing authorities to suspend train services in the northern part of the country for most of the day (Friday), with limited exceptions in some areas, while railway services are expected to resume. The storm also hit the greater Paris area, Alsace, and Lorraine, leading to school closures in Manche and Seine-Maritime, amid ongoing warnings for residents to stay indoors for their safety. The intensity of the storm has begun to gradually decrease, but its effects are still evident on roads and coastal areas, marking one of the strongest winter storms to hit France in recent years.
