أكد الأمين العام للمجلس الصحي السعودي الدكتور نهار مزكي العازمي، أن آلية تكامل الأدوار بين هيئة الرقابة النووية والإشعاعية والمركز الوطني للسرطان، التي وافق عليها مجلس الوزراء في جلسته الأخيرة، تُرسّخ التكامل المؤسسي بين الجهتين، وتسهم في بناء منظومة وطنية أكثر كفاءة لتنظيم ومتابعة الممارسات الإشعاعية الطبية، بما يعزز سلامة المرضى والممارسين الصحيين، ويضمن تطبيق أفضل الممارسات والمعايير الوطنية والدولية في مجال الحماية من الإشعاع.

وأوضح أن الآلية تهدف إلى حماية الإنسان في الممارسات الطبية المرتبطة بالعلاج الإشعاعي للأورام السرطانية، والوفاء بالتزامات المملكة الدولية في مجال الرقابة النووية والإشعاعية، إلى جانب مراقبة أثر سياسات الأمان والأمن الإشعاعي في الحد من معدلات الإصابة بالسرطان، وتعزيز تبادل البيانات والخبرات، وإجراء الدراسات المتعلقة بالآثار الإشعاعية وأمراض السرطان.

The Secretary-General of the Saudi Health Council, Dr. Nahar Muzki Al-Azmi, confirmed that the mechanism for integrating the roles between the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority and the National Cancer Center, which was approved by the Council of Ministers in its recent session, establishes institutional integration between the two entities and contributes to building a more efficient national system for organizing and monitoring medical radiological practices, thereby enhancing the safety of patients and healthcare practitioners, and ensuring the application of the best practices and national and international standards in the field of radiation protection.

He explained that the mechanism aims to protect individuals in medical practices related to radiotherapy for cancer tumors and to fulfill the Kingdom's international obligations in the field of nuclear and radiological regulation, in addition to monitoring the impact of safety and security policies in reducing cancer incidence rates, enhancing data and experience exchange, and conducting studies related to radiological effects and cancer diseases.
