أعربت الفنانة السورية منى واصف عن سعادتها الكبيرة بتكريمها في مهرجان البحرين السينمائي بدورته الحالية، بعد مسيرة حافلة امتدت لأكثر من نصف قرن، قدّمت خلالها أعمالاً خالدة في السينما والدراما العربية.

وخلال جلسة حوارية بعنوان «منى واصف والدراما الخالدة» أدارتها الإعلامية بروين حبيب، ضمن فعاليات المهرجان، قالت واصف: «لن أعتزل التمثيل ما دمت قادرة على حفظ أدواري، وما دام الشغف يسكنني، الفن هو الحياة بالنسبة لي».

وعن مسيرتها الطويلة، أكدت واصف أنها لم تكن يوماً تختار أدوارها بناءً على المقابل المادي، بل على جودة العمل وأثره الفني، قائلة: «كنت دائماً أبحث عن الأدوار التي تترك بصمة في الذاكرة، فالأعمال الجيدة تبقى، أما المال فيزول».

واستعادت منى واصف ذكرياتها مع الفنانين المصريين، كاشفةً أن الفنان الراحل عبدالله غيث هو من رشحها لتجسيد شخصية هند بنت عتبة في الفيلم العالمي «الرسالة»، الذي أخرجه المخرج الراحل مصطفى العقاد قبل نحو 50 عاماً.

وقالت واصف: «مخرج العمل لم يكن يعرف ممثلين سوريين رغم أنه من أصول سورية، وكان على تواصل دائم مع الوسط الفني المصري، وحين بدأ اختيار أبطال الفيلم في القاهرة، أخبره عبدالله غيث بوجود ممثلة سورية تُناسب الدور، تُجيد الفصحى وتمتلك الموهبة المطلوبة، وهكذا تمت مقابلتي مع العقاد في دمشق، وتم إسناد الدور لي».

وأضافت: ما زالت حتى اليوم أتلقى رسائل الإعجاب والثناء على الفيلم، الذي ترك بصمة خالدة في تاريخ السينما العربية.

The Syrian artist Muna Wasef expressed her great happiness at being honored at the current session of the Bahrain International Film Festival, after a rich career that has spanned more than half a century, during which she presented timeless works in Arab cinema and drama.

During a panel discussion titled "Muna Wasef and Timeless Drama," moderated by media personality Brawn Habib, as part of the festival's activities, Wasef said: "I will not retire from acting as long as I am able to memorize my roles, and as long as passion resides within me; art is life for me."

Regarding her long career, Wasef confirmed that she has never chosen her roles based on financial compensation, but rather on the quality of the work and its artistic impact, saying: "I have always sought roles that leave a mark in memory; good works remain, while money fades away."

Muna Wasef reminisced about her memories with Egyptian artists, revealing that the late artist Abdullah Ghaith was the one who recommended her to portray the character Hind bint Utbah in the international film "The Message," directed by the late director Mustafa Akkad nearly 50 years ago.

Wasef said: "The director of the work did not know Syrian actors, even though he was of Syrian descent, and he was in constant contact with the Egyptian artistic community. When he started selecting the film's stars in Cairo, Abdullah Ghaith informed him of a Syrian actress suitable for the role, who is proficient in classical Arabic and possesses the required talent. Thus, I had a meeting with Akkad in Damascus, and the role was assigned to me."

She added: "Even today, I still receive messages of admiration and praise for the film, which left an indelible mark in the history of Arab cinema."
