These moments came after a series of betrayals that threatened the marriage, most notably his troubled relationship with flight attendant Joan Lundberg, which prompted First Lady Jackie to call in lawyers for a divorce before Kennedy's father intervened and offered a large sum to convince her to stay. Over time, Jackie began to set clear red lines, asking her husband not to embarrass her with any new relationships.
